Fields to Plate Produce: 2020 Loan Recipient Update

James Plate & Max Fields - Fields to Plate Produce - Durango, CO

"We are currently working to get all of our storage product out of the ground before November. So far we have harvested 7,000 lbs of beets, 5,000 lbs of potatoes, 1,500 lbs radish, 4,000 lbs winter squash, 5,000 lbs rutabaga and 22,000 lbs of carrots (with another 20,000 to go). So we can provide amazing, certified organic, local food all winter to our community.

We have had an amazing year so far and plan to continue this trend. Not to mention one of the most profitable late summers on record!! The loan we received this spring enabled us to purchase the mulch layer that led to such great yields on our small plot of winter squash.

We were also able to purchase enough seed to grow 4 more acres of vegetables this year. Increasing our production to 10 acres of vegetables. The most food we have ever grown!!! Thanks Slow Money for your contribution to our success."
